Every photo below is one of our own trucks on a real job in the Tampa area. Dr. Tow runs a light-duty fleet built around two kinds of equipment: flatbed rollbacks, which carry your vehicle entirely on the truck's deck, and a wheel-lift wrecker, which lifts the front or rear wheels and tows the vehicle on its remaining axle. The white Ram 5500 with the red-and-blue chevron stripes is our primary flatbed—you'll see it in the first photo loading a sedan. The International crew-cab flatbed appears with a Corvette and a lifted pickup, two very different vehicles that both ride safest on a deck. The Ram wrecker towing the black SUV shows the wheel lift in use: the SUV's front wheels are cradled and lifted while the rear wheels roll. Every truck is clearly marked with the Dr. Tow name, so you know it's us when we pull up.
The same trucks carry the gear for our roadside services, so the driver who arrives can usually solve the problem on the spot before a tow is needed: jumper equipment for dead batteries, professional tools for vehicle lockouts, jacks and torque tools for tire changes, fuel cans for fuel delivery, and winch lines for pulling vehicles out of ditches, mud, and sand. The photos were taken on ordinary calls around the Tampa area: shopping-center lots, apartment complexes, and driveways. On a typical day the same trucks work I-4 and I-275 breakdowns, downtown parking garages, the USF and Temple Terrace area, Brandon and Riverview, and out to Plant City and Lakeland. We cover all of Hillsborough County plus Polk, Pasco, and Hernando counties, 24 hours a day.
The driver confirms your name and destination, asks whether the vehicle rolls and steers, and positions the truck for a straight pull. A flatbed tilts and winches the vehicle up the deck in a few minutes; a wheel lift cradles the drive wheels and straps them. If something changes on scene—a flat spare, a stuck parking brake, a garage that's too low—the driver explains the options and any cost difference before continuing. Most hookups take 10–15 minutes from arrival, and you're welcome to ride along to the destination when space allows.

On a flatbed, the vehicle is strapped or chained at all four wheels to the deck. On the wheel lift, the lifted wheels are cradled and strapped, and the vehicle is placed in neutral so the remaining wheels roll freely.
In most cases, yes. Our trucks have a passenger seat, and the crew-cab flatbed seats more than one. Let dispatch know how many people are with you so we send a truck with room.
Yes. A vehicle that cannot roll goes on the flatbed. The driver uses the winch and, if needed, wheel dollies or skates to move it onto the deck without dragging the tires.
